February News

Please note the library will be closed for the Family Day weekend, February 18th, 19th, and 20th. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 21st.

We love to see community partnerships happen! This month our Friends of the Library Wine Club will be partnering with Beaumont Business Association and La Maison (previously MaryBeth’s Coffee House) with new owners Chris and Irene Wood for an evening of fun, food, wine and information. Please join us Thursday, Feb. 9th, 6:45-8:00 pm. $5/person – to help cover the cost of wine. Please call to register. Everyone welcome!

 
Seniors, join Diane Tolley as she reads excerpts from her new book, ‘Carving Angels’ and shares her experiences in writing. Tuesday, February 14th, 1-2:30 pm.  Refreshments will be served.
 

Teen Nights at the Library! Find new directions, explore new things, and enjoy new friends! Wednesdays, 7-8 pm for Grades 8 and up. The 1st Wednesday of each month, 7-8 pm; explore books made into movies at our Co-ed Teen Book Club. Enjoy a variety of fun crafts and activities the rest of the month. 

 
Feel like scrapbooking? We will be meeting Saturday, Feb. 11th as the library will be closed on the Family Day weekend.
 
The University of Alberta’s DiscoverE program is visiting our HomesCool Connections! This program delivers engineering and science in a fun and interactive way. Friday, March 2nd: Exploring the Science Around You (Grades 1-3) 12:30-1:45 pm, Science, Technology and Society (Grades 4-6) 2:00-3:15 pm.  Registration is required at least one week prior to confirm booking.  Please call to register.
 

Our French Club for Adults is meeting Monday, Feb. 13th, 7-8 pm. Enjoy a night of wine and chocolate en français. This is open to any adult with a prior knowledge of French, no matter the level.
 
Coin Club is now meeting the 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month from 1-3 pm. Join us Feb. 11th and Feb. 25th.  For ages eight to adult.
 
Ranger Creek Wranglers will be performing at our Annual Friends of the Library Music Night! Saturday, February 25th 7-11 pm. Come, support the library and enjoy an evening of great music, prizes and food. A cash bar provided. Tickets $20, available at the library until Feb. 23rd.

OurBackyard.ca is brought to you by local photographers Trevor Millions and Chantal Perron.  We will help improve your knowledge about your camera and how to take great photos in just 3 1/2 hrs for only $40.  Drawing from his extensive experience as a professional photographer, Trevor lends his tips and tricks to get the shot you've always wanted. Chantal was photographing nature with her triplets since they were old enough to walk and carry their share of camera gear.  This course is open to everyone 10 and up.
